Christie’s sale of Fine and Rare Wines: From the Private Cellar of Henri Jayer on Friday evening, 10 February 2012 kicked off the Spring season with 100% sold rate, totaling HK$66,029,700/US$8,511,288. The top lot was 12 bottles of Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru « Cros Parantoux », vintage 1985 which sold for HK$2,057,000/US$265,147.
Mr. David Elswood, International Head of Wine and Auctioneer for Christie’s for the sale, said: “This remarkable and unique auction featuring wines from the private cellar of Henri Jayer exceeded all of our expectations with 100% of lots sold and a grand total of HK$66 million/US$8.51 million. Buyers were keenly aware of the unique provenance of these classic Burgundies and the attraction of a sale that can never be repeated, even at Christie’s.”
